Trooper makes DUI arrest after suspect asks for directions

When most people make the unwise decision to get behind the wheel while intoxicated, they do their best to avoid law enforcement. One Tennessee man chose to buck this trend by boldly approaching a state trooper to ask for directions. As you might expect, he was ultimately arrested for DUI/DWI, but that is only one of the charges made against the defendant.

The incident occurred last week when the defendant approached a state trooper requesting directions. According to the trooper, the man was in possession of a Mike's Hard Liquor and exhibited slurred speech and other signs of intoxication. The trooper instructed the man to perform field sobriety tests, but the defendant fled the scene in his vehicle instead.

A chase ensued during which the alleged defendant crashed his vehicle and blew a tire. However, the man continued to flee in his vehicle, which was only stopped when law enforcement officials deployed a spike strip. Even then, the man allegedly continued to run away on foot but was captured after a short chase.

The many charges made against the defendant include:

-- DUI

-- Leaving the scene of an accident

-- Possession of drug paraphernalia

-- Open container violations

-- Driving without a license

-- Following too closely

-- And several others

While it may seem like the case against this man is pretty cut-and-dried, he will still benefit from legal representation. A DUI/DWI arrest is difficult to face, but never forget that it is your right to do all you can to seek as favorable an outcome as possible. Acquiring solid legal representation is an excellent step in the right direction.
